RE-UP oct 2012 RICCARDO SINIGAGLIA - WATERTUBE RINGSPIEL (1984)

ADN TAPES 14 - cassette
thanks wikipedia : "Born 1953, Riccardo Sinigaglia is an architect as well as musician. He teaches electronic music at Milan Conservatory. He collaborates with the video center of the Faculty of Architecture, Milan University, where he lectures on the relationship between music and image.
His work is based on modes, mean tone, pythagorean scales and complex polyrhythmics: he is deeply involved in ethnomusicology, the elements of which are revisited and employed in his musical language.
In the 80s, together with Walter Maioli and Gabin Dabiré, he founded the group Futuro Antico, a cross between electronic and ethno shamanic music. In 1985 he founded with Mario Canali, the audio-visual art group Correnti Magnetiche (http://www.aec.at/en/archives/prix_archive/prix_projekt.asp?iProjectID=2409) beginning to work with digital system."

THIRD EAR BAND - NEW FORECAST FROM THE THIRD EAR ALMANAC (1990)

ADN - RECO1 - cassette
Live recording in Sarzana (SP), Italy, at 'Teatro Impavidi', January 11, 1989

allmusic says : Although they were loosely affiliated with the British progressive rock scene of the late '60s and early '70s, Third Ear Band was in some ways more of an experimental ensemble performing contemporary compositional work.
For one thing, they didn't use electric instruments, or even guitars, instead employing violin, viola, oboe, cello, and hand percussion. More important, they didn't play conventional rock "songs." They featured extended instrumental pieces that often built up from a drone, or hypnotic pattern, to a dense, raga-like crescendo, somewhat in the manner of some of Terry Riley's work.

wikipedia says : Third Eard Band plays an improvised music drawing on Eastern raga forms, European folk, experimental and medieval influences. They recorded their first session in 1968 for Ron Geesin which was released under the pseudonym of The National-Balkan Ensemble.
Their first actual album, Alchemy, was released on the Harvest label in 1969, (featuring John Peel playing Jew's Harp on one track). They recorded in 1971 the soundtrack for Roman Polanski's Macbeth.
After various later incarnations and albums they finally disbanded in 1993.

RE-POST/THE RESIDENTS - THE WARNER BROS. ALBUM

In 1971 the group sent a reel-to-reel tape to Hal Halverstadt, who worked with Captain Beefheart, at Warner Brothers. Because the band had not included any name in the return address, the rejection slip was simply addressed to "The Residents". The members of the group then decided that this would be the name they would use, first becoming Residents Unincorporated, then shortening it to the current name.
Tonight, they will play in Paris and I'll be there !

MIMI IZUMI KOBAYASHI - IK.I (1989)

Megadisc - MD 7885
Produced by oh my god ! Holger Hiller. His website says that this Lp is a "Solo album by japanese pianist and composer "Mimi" Izumi Kobayashi features an intruiging mix of oriental and european influences. On "Days" Dutch singer Mathilde Santing melts her voice effortless into an overall ambience created by Holger Hiller, who keeps a careful balance between Mimi's impressive range of classical and contemporary styles and guest artists. A jewel in cross-cultural song writing and production."
