CHÂTEAUROUX INVADERS IN PARIS

Châteauroux is a little city in central France. Inside the walls of this lost and charmless town grew up since the seventees a generation of outsiders who became influential artists in the french scene : well-known artists Richard Fauguet & Michel Aubry, art curator Nathalie Viot, fine arts school director Vincent-Emmanuel Guitter, choregraph Emmanuelle Huynh could be seen as the first wave... They supported the new wave of castelrussians's creative forces like David Sanson (aka That Summer & Redactor-in-chief of the contemporary art/theatre/dance/music magazine Mouvement ), Rainier Lericolais or la galerie du cartable.
This Spring, differents Paris Art Centers welcomes some of them :
Rainier Lericolais at Frank Elbaz Gallery March 14th - May 9th, 2009
Marie-Jeanne Hoffner (not a native but a based one) at Point Ephemere March 7th - April 1st, 2009
Richard Fauguet at Le Plateau/FRAC Ile de France June 4th – August 9th, 2009
Hoffner "New Found Land"
Lericolais "re-TG"
Fauguet "Ping Pong"

RAINIER LERICOLAIS & MARCELLINE DELBECQ - ROCK'N'ROLL AT THE DOWN CLUB

Semishigure/botrop-boy (2005)
1- Montana Blues
2- Black Hole
3- Ghost
4- Hours
5- The Belvedere
Lyrics by art critic & curator Tom Morton ; music by Rainier Lericolais (electronics, noises, scratch piano) ; voice by sound artist & writer Marcelline Delbecq This record is a part of the 4CD-box-set released for the exhibition LYRICS of french artist Saâdan Afif (Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2005)
down at the r'n'r circus
The Belvedere : « I met you last Winter / In the museum of the perfect man, / You wiped the sweat from your brow, / And asked me, ‘Will this remain ?’ »

Rainier Lericolais - Le Malentendu est productif - Paris, March 14th - May 9th, 2009

"Japanese Electronic Music" by Rainier Lericolais (2009)
Exhibition of new works by Rainier Lericolais "Le Malentendu est productif" at Galerie Frank Elbaz, Paris, March 14th - May 9th, 2009.
Opening on Saturday March 14th, 2009
The picture in the flyer is an re-interpretation of a cover from the mythic records collection "Prospectives 21e siècle" (Phillips), which was launched in 1967 and quickly won its place as the most avant-garde, the most revolutionary of all record collections: "revolutionary" in its presentation (metallized record sleeves in keeping with their contents) and in its exclusive repertory (concrete, electronic and experimental music).

JOHN ARMLEDER/MICHEL AUBRY/LA GALERIE DU CARTABLE - TARBES

Armelder's Wall Paintings
Armleder's paintings/Aubry's scupture
Aubry's Melnikov's Kiosk
From Feb. 5th to April 4th,in the art center "Le Parvis", located in Tarbes (South-West of France), you can see the exhibition of swiss artist John Armleder and french sculptor and musicologist Michel Aubry, curated by Jean-François Dumont, an under-estimated curator and ex-director of the Decimus Magnus galery in Bordeaux.
Amleder reactivated the exhibition he made in the same place 10 years ago ("Wall Paintings 1967-1997"). Aubry re-built - with his own style - a part of the 1925 Melnikov's Pavilion of the USSR at International Exhibition of
Arts and Crafts in Paris and the Fratellini's dressing room as described by Rodchenko.
"La galerie du cartable"(David Legrand, Fabrice Cotinat and Henrique Martins-Duarte) was invited to write and shoot a movie with Armleder and Aubry, but also with the ghosts of Erich Von Stroheim and Rodchenko, talking about the exhibition, the meanings inducted by the repetition and reenactment on their own practices.
This movie is in the same spirit of other made by la galerie du cartable with Michel Aubry (listed here) and the "Shadows's Dialogues" : poetic, burlesque and controversial.
The movies made by Michel Aubry and some by la galerie du cartable are scheduled at VidéoK.01 in Pau (near Tarbes) until April 11th.

Mz6 - KULTE THE FRENCH BRAND SPRING 2009 (video)

(1'53)
KULTE is one of the few surviving french brands of urban and street wear. For the SPRING 2009 collection, the Mz6 collective (with my friend Clémentine Courcelle, Julien Amigues, Grégoire Pierre & Boris Ramonguilhem) made this poppish video, very italo-disco in the design.

SIMON FISHER TURNER - DEREK JARMAN'S BLUE OST (ENGLISH & FRENCH VERSION)

Mute/Elektra Nonesuch - 1993
I think that everyone in this blog knows Derek Jarman and his friendship with TG's members and his connexions with the Industrial scene. If you don't, he was one of the most controversial, radical, handsome british film-makers. And you can read a bio here.
Blue is his last film, released just four months before his death by AIDS-related complications. It's his last testament as a film-maker, and consists of a single shot of saturated blue colour filling the screen (inspired by French painter Yves Klein), as background to a soundtrack composed by Simon Fisher Turner (featuring original music by Coil, Momus, Durutti Column...) where Jarman's and some of his favourite actors (Nigel Terry, John Quentin and Tilda Swinton) describes his life and vision.
This is the original english version : BLUE (divshare) that I found in this blog : Magicistragic
And here, the french version with the voice of André Dussolier as main narrator : BLEU
The text in english can be read here
Please, if you download, leave a comment !

Temple Records 1987
Kenny Morris was the drummer of Siouxsie& the Banshees from 1977 to 1979. This record, released by the Genesis P'Orridge's Temple Records, is a very literary one, with gentle music and spoken words by French 80's Underground writer Dorothée Lalanne.

THÉÂTRE COMMERCIAL - SPECTACLE COMMERCIAL (1985)

Picture Wave Records 0060
Théâtre commercial is a french band with Antoine Campo, Catherine Rimbaud, Guillaume Loizillon & Jean-Pierre Chalbos. I don't know very much more about them. The cover don't explain anything. I only know that this 11 minutes record is perhaps one of the most intringuing, mysterious and beautiful I've heard when I was 15. Electronic noises, concrete sounds, reverbered voices making a theatrical atmosphere, a little drama for the ears. This little gem here (RS)
Tracklisting:
A side - Image
A1 Mauvais Rêve (1:00)
A2 Conversation (1:00)
A3 Les Enfants De La Bière (1:00)
